Cholesterol is a wax-like substance produced by the liver that aids in building cell membranes and producing hormones. Our bodies produce plenty of cholesterol to meet our needs, so we don’t need to consume extra cholesterol through our diets.
A quick common sense reasoning session on cholesterol. If you claim your cholesterol problem to be due to genetics, ok, you may be right. Some peoples bodies produce more cholesterol than others. So if that was the hand you have been dealt, why on earth would you choose to add even more cholesterol to your body via animal products? The only answer that really makes sense is that you don’t care for yourself or the ones around you that love you, isn’t it? A whole food plant based diet, once again in this case, does more for you than you think. If you eat a diet that doesn’t add any additional cholesterol to your body, no animal products, then you are already winning. How about when you replace those animal product voids on your plate with wholesome plant based substitutes that are filled with Phytosterols? Additional work is being done inside your body, via your new plant based fuel, to get rid of
cholesterol. You thought you were doing something good by not eating meat, well when you substitute it for plants then you are doing 2x the goodness.
